Communicating with the web from an iPhone application is a core component to many fantastic apps on the App Store store. Since there is no official framework "web service" framework in the iPhone SDK, there is are a bunch of loosely mentioned meth...... [session page]
Andy O: To be honest, I'm a real n00b when it comes to iPhone development (I don't even own a Mac!) but I'm pretty heavy in "web serivces" both REST and SOAP. It'd be great to get a feel for what those clients look like and how I could write services to make it easier for iPhone devs to use. But also I just want to start learning a bit more about iPhone development...
Andy Peters: TWO PEOPLE SO FAR -- SWEET! any specifics you'd like to know?

Kt McBratney posted Newbies
How many of you will be attending HDC for the first time this year, too?
Andy O: Will by my first time. Just moved back to Omaha and thought I'd get plugged in.
Sid Mitzlaff: It's my first year. This was also my first year I went to JavaOne. I guess I always wanted to go to JavaOne and never got to, and now that I went this year now I'm eyeballing all sorts of others to go to ;-)
Christina Hynick: I'm a newbie too!! Heard a lot about it!! Can't wait!

Sean Gay posted Free Lectures from MIT
I recently stumbled upon the ability to watch videos of previous MIT lectures. Whole semesters are recorded of some classes, such as the Python programming and digital communications courses. See comment for link to video lectures.
Kt McBratney: Awesome, thanks for sharing this Sean!

If anyone is coming to town early, I was thinking about organizing a golf outing on Wednesday. Pre-party is not until evening, so we could tee off around noon or something? Thoughts?
Kt McBratney: I may not have the attention span to golf, but I am a mean golf-cart driver if this outing goes down.
Sid Mitzlaff: I've never played golf, but I'm up for a golf cart demo derby if one is added to the schedule ;-)
Gabe Romero: Aureus Group will be giving a $500 travel gift certificate at HDC, make sure to stop by

Joe Olsen posted Most looking forward to?
What information are you most looking forward to at HDC09?
Sid Mitzlaff: Personally I'm looking forward to new ideas to try both on my job and in my spare time, both in programming and in technology in general. Honestly? I'm bored, and I need something to get excited about again for 8 hours a day if you catch my drift. Maybe not this moment, but soon.
Sean Gay: I'm most interested in the Silverlight, Surface, and emerging technologies. I love to code, but seeing something in the final development stages is what gets me all giddy. I also plan on learning a thing or two on the web side of things, since most of what I've done is/are small database/applications.
